LAS VEGAS – Humingi ngayon ng rematch si dating World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, matapos ang nasaklap at kontrobersiyal na pagkatalo laban kay Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Bagama’t tanggap na ng former champion ang kabiguan, pero iginiit nitong may malaking pagkakamali ang referee na si Joe Cortez.
Ayon pa kay Ortiz, wala umanong malinaw na pasabi sa kanila ang referee na tuloy na ang laban bunsod ng ginawa nitong intentional headbutt.
Aniya, humingi na siya paumanhin kay Mayweather sa naging asal, pero laking gulat umano niya na wala si referee Cortez sa gitna.
“I would love the rematch because, you know, I fouled Floyd, you know, and I apologized for that to Floyd in the ring. I apologized to him after the fight as well. It was just, you know, heat of the moment, but it’s one of those things where, you know, the ref was in the middle and they called the break as well and then he caught me after the ref caught me. I mean, I guess, it’s a payback, but I agree to disagree. I would like the rematch,” wika ni Ortiz.
Sinabi pa ng 24-anyos na Mexican immigrant, alam niyang magaling na boksingero si Floyd pero hindi pa rin siya kumbinsido pagkatapos ng ginawa sa kaniya ng dating pound for pound king.
“Floyd’s a, he’s a great fighter. I’m still not convinced though. You know, that’s just me though. I’m not convinced that he’s the greatest”, ani Ortiz.
Una rito, nanatili pa ring “unbeaten” ang former pound-for-pound king na si Mayweather kasunod ng controversial knockout win nito kay Ortiz.
Nagsimula ang mainit na laban ng dalawa sa 4th round, kasunod ng headbutt attack ni Ortiz kay Mayweather.
